He will not let your foot slip - He who watches over you will not slumber. Psalm 121: 5-6
After a few years in Denton, Texas, my husband was asked to transfer to Arizona.
We prayed, sought wise counsel and asked for blessings. We were secretly hoping for a roadblock to keep us from going.
Arizona? We couldn't possibly move. We are Texas kids. Our kids are Texas kids. We are Aggies through and through. All of our family lived in Texas. There couldn't possibly be anything good in the desert.
Instead, God lit up the path brightly and we packed up our little Mazda.
We had purchased the first house we ever owned on June 14th, 2007. We said goodbye to that house on June 14th, 2008.
My mother flew in, to help us with the move. The moment she stepped off the plane and hugged me, my heart softened and I covered myself with the careful burden of encouraging my husband and children and making memories for everyone.
One of my favorite scenes from the movie Parent Trap is when Hailey Mills smells her grandfather's lapel. He asks what she is doing and she says "making memories".
It was time to take a deep breath and meander our way to our new home. It was time to make some memories along the way.
