Barbecued Peaches with Basil - Guest Post

Summer is slipping through my fingers faster than I can grab it.

That may have something to do with the fact that it's August or that my family is only now arriving home after studying and traveling abroad since May, but I have the strongest sense that summer isn't here for long.

With that, I want to paint my toenails bright colours, never miss a day at the splash pad with my kiddies, and of course, enjoy as many seasonal foods as I can, while I can.

Enter: peaches. Juicy, delicious, limited time peaches.

I put peaches on almost everything.

My 9 month old eats pureed peaches, my toddler takes slices two at a time, and I sneak them into every meal I can think of. Especially dinners. Is that weird?
It was for me too at first, but trust me, you've got to try it!
Here's a recipe to get you goin'
While you're barbecuing meat or veggies for dinner, when there's 5 minutes left, throw on some peaches.
Cut them in half, brush with olive oil and salt, and sprinkle with basil.
Grill on medium/high for 5 minutes, check to see that you've got grill marks (just 'cause they're pretty), and serve as a side dish.

We have ours with chicken and potatoes and they were delicious and gone before we knew it.
just like summer.

  1. Hi emily!
I couldn't agree more! I love peaches. They are definitely one of my favourite fruits. The other day I had a grilled cheese sandwich, made with goat cheese and sliced peaches. Delicious... Can't wait to try this!
