He's Working All Things Out

It's a popular verse we've all read our entire lives...

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28)

..and yet somehow,

I'm still surprised to find God weaving His story in and through my life in unexpected ways.

This summer, I experienced his working all things for good in the lives of two of his children--me, and Beautifully Rooted contributor, Annalea Hart. While one of us lived in NM, and the other in IL, the thought of actually becoming friends in real life, or neighbors, never crossed my mind as a reality...
until her husband interviewed for a job in the city where my family and I live.

What seemed to be an affinity for one another online, instantly became real-world community when she and her husband stepped into my home, and stayed for a few days. No longer were our lives on display through filtered photos or succinctly written thoughts...we were now living out
real fears, real family, real changes, real burdens, and real faith...in real time.

We soon found out that we didn't become friends because we HAD to,
but because God orchestrated it in such a way that we GOT to.

As Annalea and her family have relocated to Albuquerque, NM,
we are now truly building community with one another-- in neighborhood, in church, and in friendship.
Neither of us could have seen the potential blessings that could've come from last summer's circumstances.
And, as my family recently learned of our unexpected blessing of a sixth child
I think on the way God has shown Himself faithful in working all things for good...and I breathe and rest.

What unexpected circumstances or challenges are you currently facing
that you feel like a HAVE TO instead of a GET TO?
God's promises to us reveal His sovereignty and faithfulness in all circumstances.
He is at work, even now, for His good and His purposes in your life. You get to experience the bounty
of His goodness and sovereignty! Breathe and rest, friend. Breathe and rest.

  2. I get to fall in love with my husband all over again when he gets back from Afghanistan! the disconnect has been huge... but I can see God's work on both our hearts through it... drawing us closer to Him to draw us closer to eachother, and the excitement about loving him always, unconditionally, but the blessing that we get to experience the newness of life back together again... that is something I'm so excited about :) and that we don't HAVE to do, but we GET to do!

    thanks for this post!

  5. God is good, and congratulations on your surprise sixth, our youngest was a shock to us but man, I cannot imagine how dull life would be without her. God knew just what our family needed, and that there is my evidence that he really does work all things for our good!
