Sparrow - Guest Post

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”  Matthew 10:29-31

This sweet metal sparrow and small jar of marbles sits on my kitchen window seal, right above my sink. I stand at this sink countless times every day.  I will be honest, sometimes I am so consumed with the task at hand that I do not even notice or acknowledge the little bird sitting right in front of me.

A sweet friend gave me this bird along with a card with this scripture.  I purposefully set the sparrow on my kitchen window seal so I would see him throughout my day and be reminded of the Father's love for me.  I am always in need of Him.

I could sit here and be down on myself for being so busy that I am able to look past this beautiful reminder so often or......I could acknowledge God's sovereignty and His perfect timing. The moments I see this little sparrow perched on my window seal are the exact moments that I am in desperate need of His presence and the sweet reminder that He is always with me; watching over me, caring for me and providing for me.  In these moments,  I am usually not even consciously aware that I need Him so badly, but He knows. He knows my heart and my every thought and need.

God is truly amazing! I am humbled at His love towards me and so very thankful that He has chosen to forgive me and love me as He does.

This verse in Matthew goes on to say this:
“So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge before my Father who is in Heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in Heaven.” Matthew 10:32-33

So, I will acknowledge my Glorious Savior before all men because He is worthy to be praised!

  1. You just inspired the perfect gift for a friend who needs to hear this right now. Thanks!

  2. My sister-in-law is a singer, and my absolute favourite song she sings is "His Eye the Sparrow". I don't know who wrote it, but it is beautiful and brings tears every time I hear it.

    Beautiful post!

  3. Thinking I need to get a little sparrow like that....His Eye is on the Sparrow is one of my favorite songs. When I sing it, I am suddenly as worried anymore:)
